Development of internet brought us convenience and annoyance concurrently. To talk about bad effect, spam mail is one of my pet peeves about using internet. In the beginning, I tried to have another, new e-mail that I use only for important contact. To do so, I didn't put that e-mail adress when I register for any website. However, spam mail started to come to my new e-mail account, too. As result, I ceased making new accounts and try to change myself not to care about spams. Of course, I don't read them, but I check the title, not to miss any important mails wrongly delivered to spam folder, and and trash all of them. Even looking through the title of spams takes times. Although I don't have technical knowledge, I think the law regarding e-mail should be amened to assure personal information-security and to block routes of accessing private information. Another pet peeve is pops up of sexual or inapropriate advertisement window from opening e-mail or regular website. Personally, unnecessary time consuming to deal with those trashes irritates me but, at the same time, thinking about possible bad effects they could cause to children makes me sick. Rigid punishment is seriously needed to stop spoiling internet environment.

About then years ago, dinosaurs got enormous public interests. Dinosaurs were widespread and were found easily from novels, movies, games and toys. However, I don't like whatever that is scary. So I tried not to consume dinosaurs' products. The only movie I saw about dinosaurs is Jurassic Park, the first version of about ten years ago. Jurassic Park was dramatized from the same title of novel. It was famous movie, so-called 'blockbuster' because of its special effects. Main story was about revived dinosaurs going out of controls and scholars and their kids escaping from dinosaurs' attacking. It actually was something. Motions and sounds were very very realistic. Main characters looked horrofied. I was completely lost in the movie. Fear was accumulated through the movie, I couldn't stand up and leave the theater after the movie. My friend was overjoyed at my suffering. Ever since that, I never watch any movie related to horror or adventure.

I have learned English, Japanese, Germany and Chinese. Some were required classes of school and others were self-interested studies. But, I became somewhat fluent only in English and Japanese. I totally forgot about Germany anc Chinese. Learning language is a ongoing process which doesn't finish in a certain time. From my experience, learning language needs devotion more than interests or learning time. The two languages are ones that I tried to learn and use more.

I am generally good at verbal language than written one. I'm very open to adapt new things and I like to learn foreign languages. I love talking in other languages. I am not afraid of talking to foreigners. So I just say whatever I know whenever I have chance to talk to foreigners. Therefore, when I talk, my expression, pronunciation could be inaccurate sometimes. Eventually, I practice a lot and learn from making mistakes by speaking, although making mistakes doesn't mean that I violate grammar seriously. On the contrary, I spend less time for written language. No simultaneous interaction gives me few interests.

My name is Mary. I have a family of five, a husband,Jim and three boys. We moved to Manchester about three months ago to get a job at a factory. We used to live in the countryside and work on the farm. Having heard about fancy-city life and dreaming of becoming rich brought us here. After we arrived in Manchester, we could find a cheap place but we had to share a small room with several families and all the sewaged and trash were disposed on the street. But high motivation and expectation about factory work made us not consider it much.

Jim got a job at a textile mill. He worked very hard day and night and he was subordinated to the boss but there was no incentive for that. It was hard to sustain baskc level of life. So I got a job at another textile factory, although my wage was only one-third of Jim's. Jim and I bring our children to the works because of lack of public daycare centers . Luckly, my boss liked me bring my kids to work implicitly. He let them, who are five and six, work and even paid for them. This is shamful but now I have perspective that my youngest son grows fast and support us, too.

We moved to city to pursue better life. However, circumtances are not better, even worse. None of us never take a rest and never be happy. It seems that all of us got illness here in Manchester, not only physically but also mentally.

During high school different from junior-high school, I didn't get along with classmates well. I did put all my engergy avoiding them. I tried to be a nerd. All I did was going to class, going to the library and having tutors to teach me. I never violate school-principles. Consequently, I didn't want to participate in any activities because students in a same group(activity) usually get along and make problems. But I had to participate because of credits, so I joined bowling club. Good thing of bowling club was that constituents of the club could leave school for that activity, it was not relavant to any studies and teachers who were in charge of were not traditional teacher-style. Going bowling weekly didn't help me making friends which I was not interested in and didn't help me getting into college. But it gave me free time, out of stress and made me feel good. I do not go bowling on a regular basis, however I still like go bowling. Sound of ball hitting pins makes me feel piquant.

A ring has an image of commitment to one's lobe, whereas a diamond ring is precisely a symbol of marriage. According to the article, it seems that a commercial purpose of a company made a convention about a wedding ring. A diamond ring didn't mean special to me. I simply though a diamond ring is highly valid because it is retainable. However, ever since my friends started to get married, an image of diamond ring was declined to me. I found it was considered that a diamond ring was requisite for marriage not an option and that a size of diamond was a reflection of a size of love. More sad fact is that I'm not sure that I can be free from undesireble convention.

1. My favorite teacher was math-tutor from junior high to high school. I met her at private school at first and she taught me ther for three years. When I entered the high school, my friends and me organized a group and asked her to teach us again.

I liked her consistency above all. I had known her for 6 years. She had been same all the time.
It's not like she had skill at talking and she looked rigorous and not fun to be with for young girl-students. However, her explanation about math problems was very clear. Whenever we learn a new chapter, she explained a concept and gave us formula we needed. She put main emphasis on doing homework. What her theory was that even a smart student who understands formula very fast and who didn't learn it by repeating will forget that fast or can not apply at their exams. I wasn't sure how much I could rely on her philosophy but I had had satisfactory outcomes and I felt that all had compensated my efforts.

I still don't know what made her so special to me. But for me, she is the best teacher I ever had. She didn't really force me to study but I never missed her classes and did all the homeworks. Although there was no penalties and no special compensation from that class, it was always on the top of my priority. I think she had some techniques to deal with students.

When I worked at a hotel, my hotel had an annual festival. The theme of the festival of the year 2003 was public relations of each department. Usualla departments were consist of several section, so was mine. To take part in the festival, my department made temporary project team which was made of staff from each section.

Working with a group of people who had different background such as working at different sections and different period of working experience from 1 to 5 years was not easy. Group members didn't wanted to have any responsibility because that project was only for the festival. In addition, every body assumed that what their section does was the most important job and each staff only knew about their sector but not others at all. It seemed that no individuals had mind to work as a team.

Definitely, there were benifits working in a group. When we had brainstorming for making film, we could have various kinds of ideas from different experiences of each members. It was easier to understand different sections' duties and positive and negatives aspects by hearing firsthand information from who are in that field. And working cooperatively held us get to understand each other and get along better, as we spent more time together.

At festival, we won the 1st place and had happy ending of group project. The group project gave me a good learning experience. I learned that if I want to work with others, I need to have respect and consideration for co-workers. I learned that I should have responsibility as much as I expect others to have.

Old & New Information

When Reagan assumed the office of the presidency, he had two aims-the recovery of the American economy and the modernization of America into a military power-in his mind. His usccess was testified to drop unemployment figures and inflation and to increase GNP in the first. But his less success with the second was indicated with our increased involvement in international conflict without any clear set of political goal. Nevertheless, the American voter were pleased with vast increases in the military budget and a good deal of saber rattling.

Our report will highlight to demonstrate the advantages of the various components of Telco's current profitability, particularly growth in Asian market, versus competitors. This new analysis will be based on revenue returns along several dimensions-product type, end-use, distribution channels, distributor type, etc. According to our projections, Telco's ability in regard to the development of distribution channels in China will mostly determine growth prospects of its newest product lines. The introduction of new products will need a range of innovative strategies to support it.

According to senior US officials, the US is stepping up efforts to find evidence of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction by offering former mid-level scientists immunity from prosecution. According to a senior Bush administration official, this report would focus on Saddam Hussein's capability and intention to develop WMD and this might be completed within two weeks. An interim report by David Kay, a former UN weapons inspector, leading the 1,200-member Iraq Survey Group of investigators, didn't show what they expected to see. The officials said that searching for WMD had not yielded actual weapons.

Summary of ' An Inconvenient Truth"

'An Inconvenient Truth' is a documentary film which is about the seriousnessof global warming caused by human activity and about the needs for immediate actions of the mankind and their governments to halt and reverse it. This was presented and asserted by Al Gore.

First of all, the global warming is happening.
There is 100 percent agreement among scientists about this fact. 925 recent articles in peer-review scientific journals prove it. However, a database search of newspaper and magazine articles shows that 57 percent question the fact of global warming because of disinformation campaign done by the energy industries. This is the same strategy used for years by the defenders of tabacco.

Second, the global warming is catastrophe.
Glaciers and lakes are shrinking, snows are melting and shorelines are retreating. Last year South America experienced its first hurricane. Japan and the Pacific are setting records for typhoons. Hurricane Katrina passed over Florida, doubled back over the Gulf, picked up strength from unusually warm Gulf waters, and went from Category 3 to Category 5. There are changes in the Gulf Stream and the jet stream. The 10 warmest years in history were in the last 14 years. Cores of polar ice show that carbon dioxide is Much higher than ever before in a quarter of a million years. Ups and downs of temperature and amount of carbon dioxide have their own patterns and they have correlation. In recent years, the graph of carbon dioxide keeps going up, higher and higher.

Third, the global warming is caused by human being.
The primary man-made cause of global warming is the burning of fossil fuels. We are taking energy stored over hundreds of millions of years in the form of coal, gas and oil and releasing it suddenly. This causes global warming, and there is a pass-along effect. Since glaciers and snow reflect sunlight but sea water absorbs it, the more the ice melts, the more of the sun's energy is retained by the sea.

Therefore, we should stop the global warming.
We need to take action right now. From the example of tobacco farm run by Al Gore's farther, we can learn that people have tendency not to take an action until they find the necessity in person, although they know what is right and what is needed to do. However, if we do nothing now, in about 10 years the plnet may reach a "tipping point" and begin a slide toward destruction of our civilization and most of the other species on this planet. After that point is reached, it would be too late for any action. We should switch to and encourage the development of alternative energy sources : Solar, wind, tidal and nuclear. We should quickly move toward hibrid and electric cars. We should support a big amount of money to public transit and subsidize the fare. We should save energy in our houses. Above all, politicians in every nation must have the courage to do what is necessary. It is not a political issue. It is a moral issue.

Summarization

Trace, A.G. says that international students who had rich social interaction with American friends are able to adopt better intellectually and culturally.

Cigularova says that international students' relationships with host nationals have positive effect on their psychosocial adjustment. However, it's hard to have those relationship so it's necessary for school creating programs to develope them.

Assertiveness is one of the key factors to succeed in the U.S. not only academically but also socially. Academic self-efficacy is also useful too. To support international graduate students, instructing them the U.S. educational system and life will be very helpful.
